Social Return on Investment

In communities across the state, we at ACCION Texas witness daily the positive effects of a loan in the life of a small business owner.  We see the increase in income, equity, and self-esteem.  Less visible is the significant impact of the loan in the community. 

Results from an independent research firm show that ACCION Texas loans make a significant economic impact.  Between 1994-2008, ACCION Texas made $70.5 million in loans which produced $113 million in total economic activity, including $42.4 million in labor compensation, nearly 1,700 new jobs, 6,800 sustained jobs and over $7.6 million in public sector revenues.

These results represent a 60 percent social return on investment—every dollar loaned creates an average of 60 cents annually in new economic activity.
