Annual Reports 2010 990 2010 Audit Socially responsible lending gives us more resources We give credit where it's due- we wouldn't be where we are without the generous support of socially responsible investors who support our belief in what small business owners can do with even a small infusion of cash.
These investments allow us to offer start-up business loans to serious business owners. We find they pay back their loans and come back for another to grow their small businesses.
We are deeply grateful to our investors. If you'd like to know more, contact Kay Simpson, VP of Development at (888) 215-2373, ext. 1176, or (210) 531-5522.

Socially Responsible Investing
With a commitment to socially responsible investing, many individuals, organizations and agencies lend funds to ACCION to increase our loan resources and make a difference in the lives of microbusiness owners.
When you invest in the ACCION Loan Fund, you help entrepreneurs start or grow a business, and also help them provide for their families and contribute to the economic revitalization of their communities.
Your investment will help someone like Victoria Rayas of Victoria’s In-Home Care.
When Ms. Rayas was a teen-ager, her mother became paralyzed. Rayas, an only child, had to become her mother’s arms and legs as her sole caregiver. After working 15-plus years in the social-services industry, including rehabilitation centers and nursing homes, Rayas decided to use her experience to provide the in-home personal care she saw lacking as a teen-ager. As a result of an ACCION Texas Inc. loan, she works full-time and has hired two part-time employees for her thriving business, which allows families' loved ones to live at home comfortably while maintaining their independence.
Your investment also helps ACCION
Borrowed capital is our principal source of funds for lending. Your community development investment will become part of ACCION’s pool of loan capital. This revolving loan fund helps about 1,000 small businesses each year.
Your investment is also an important part of our strategy for achieving self-sufficiency. Favorable terms on borrowed capital reduce our interest expense and improve our profitability, thus reducing the need for operating grant support.
How it Works
Investors can choose the amount they would like to invest, the term and interest rate. The amount minimum is $1,000. The term can be from 1 to 3 years and the interest rate 0%, 1% or 2%.
Return on Investment
At the end of the term, investors receive a check with the total interest due, and have the choice to either roll over the principal for another investment or request the principal be returned. More than just a monetary return on investment, investors receive a social return on investment and have the satisfaction of knowing they helped create economic opportunity for a deserving microbusiness owner.
Although investments are unsecured and there is no guarantee the entire principal payment will be returned, ACCION Texas, INC. is a financially stable organization and has never defaulted on a loan.
We invite you to join hands with us to invest in people, their businesses and our communities.
