Nation’s Largest Micro-Lender Appoints Hispanic Markets Manager

ACCION Texas-Louisiana expands outreach among Hispanic businesses

SAN ANTONIO – August 23, 2010 – Non-profit group ACCION Texas-Louisiana, the nation’s
largest micro-lending organization in the United States, today announced the addition of Ismenia
Interiano-Fletcher as Hispanic Markets Manager for the Houston district. Interiano-Fletcher
is responsible for business development within the Hispanic and Latino communities for the
Houston region.

Interiano-Fletcher brings with her more than 20 years of experience in communications,
advertising and broadcast production. A native of El Salvador, her career has spanned from El
Salvador to Houston. Prior to joining ACCION Texas-Louisiana Interiano-Fletcher has worked
on both the client and agency side of advertising and public relations giving her a well-rounded
understanding of communications systems and strategies. She speaks four languages: English,
Spanish, French and Italian.

“Interiano-Fletcher’s passionate voice enables her clients to succeed in the industry,” said Janie
Barrera, president and CEO with ACCION Texas-Louisiana. “Her strong marketing background
and proven leadership abilities will help her reach members of the Spanish-speaking community
who can most benefit from our small business loan product.”

As a Central American native who herself grew up in a family of small business owners and
entrepreneurs, Interiano-Fletcher understands the needs and concerns of ACCION Texas-
Louisiana’s clients and works with them to help create the best solutions for their businesses.

ACCION Texas-Louisiana is a unique non-profit organization that is able to help finance
small businesses that are otherwise unable to access traditional funding services. ACCION
Texas-Louisiana is identified as one of the largest microfinance networks in the country and
was awarded the American Banker Innovator of the Year Award in 2008. In the past year,
ACCION Texas-Louisiana has assisted Houston entrepreneurs with business ventures and
small businesses such as child care centers, restaurants, science stores and much more.

Micro-lending is becoming an increasingly important strategy for helping low and moderate-
income families in Louisiana. To gain greater control over their working lives, many families are
turning to micro-business. Research states that over 355,000 low income entrepreneurs do not
have access to microfinance products statewide. In Houston, the demand is greater than ever.
For the past three years, ACCION Texas-Louisiana has been lending over $1 million every month
in microloans.
